2011 Copyright Party held successfullyOn December 2, 2011, the annual event "Copyright Party" was held by CRIC at the loyal room of the Tokyo Kaikan (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo). Every year this event has been held on Friday in the first week of December. 237 participants in total attended to the party. The number of participants was the highest number in recent years. It was held successfully. First of all, on behave of CRIC, Mr. NOGI Takehisa, president of CRIC, made an opening speech. He took this opportunity to thank all of people supporting CRIC's activities on daily bases. And he reported that CRIC has stuck to the original schedule of its activities and has completed the all procedure of Authorization of Public Interest Incorporated Associations. And then he expressed his expectation that all participants would have a pleasant talk with each other as long as possible since the party would be the place for all participants to get acquainted with each other. Second, Mr. YOSHIDA Daisuke, Deputy Commissioner of Agency for Cultural Affairs, made a congratulatory speech. He expressed his sympathy to all people affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake. And he also expressed his respect for all supporters helping earthquake victims. And then, he remind all participants of this year痴 incidents in copyright field such as general provisions of copyright limitations, legal revision for enlargement of range of technical protection, distribution and usage of digital books, issues on National Diet Library archive, international issues such as ACTA , WIPO Audiovisual treaty, and TPP. He intended that Agency for Cultural Affairs would receive all those issues and would make an effort to improve them. And he expected that participants would discuss about those issues today痴 party. Third, Mr. ABE Koji, Professor emeritus at Okayama University, Director of the Japan Copyright Institute, gave a toast with his humorous talks and the party started. This year the number of participants exceeded the number of participants in last year. CRIC received delightful comments from not only CRIC members and supporting members but also guests. Those comments included that "I could meet people whom I can not meet usually", "I could talk with great participants such as academics, lawyers, administrators in industrial firm and interested organization", and "I am looking forward to this party every year. So, please continue to hold this party". Even though Mr. TAGUCHI Kotaro, Vice president of CRIC, had a closing speech at the middle of the party, the party was still crowded with many participants. They continued to spend a great time there. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all participants who gathered to attend the party in the busiest time of the year. Information about "Copyright Seminar for General Public"On February 17, CRIC will hold this year痴 final Copyright Seminar for General Public in Okayama city. Since June of 2005, the first Copyright Seminar in Okayama City was held in seven years. We are looking forward to hearing from you.
